November Employee of the Month
Yaneth is actually pronounced “Janet”. As some of you may know we’ve gone around and around on how to pronounce her name. Some people thought it was “Yaw’-neth” and others insisted, no, it’s “Jan’-it”. She explained to me that Yaneth is the Spanish way of spelling Janet but the “Y” is pronounced like a “J” and the “h” is silent!
Yaneth came to work at the Villas in 2006. She applied here because she knew the Ponce family. Yaneth started out as a dining room server. In 6 months she got promoted to supervisor. She stayed as supervisor for seven years and then moved on to Wellness as a Med-Tech.
She’s been at the Villas 11 years. When asked, she says she loves the residents the best. She enjoys talking to them, saying ”everybody is nice”. In fact, she says she “Just enjoys coming here.” Her kids ask her, “Why do you like it so much?” She just tells them, “It doesn’t feel like a job anymore - it’s just like visiting friends”.
Her children are Stephanie, 14 and Christopher, 15. Her favorite thing to do when away from work is spend time with her family. Something that people probably don’t know about Yaneth is that she loves to cook. Her favorite thing to make is salsa. “People in Wellness look forward to getting some” she said.
Yaneth is from Mexico. She came to the US when she was 12 with her parents and two sisters. (She’s the oldest). At the time she only spoke Spanish. She went to school, 8th grade, at Shorecliffs Middle School. She graduated from San Clemente High School. Then she took Medical Assisting classes at Saddleback College. She was happy to become a Med-Tech because it was in the medical field.
I asked Yaneth if there was anything she could be doing other than what she’s doing, what would it be. She said she was very happy doing exactly what she’s doing. We’re so glad to have Yaneth as a faithful and wonderful employee at the Villas. Here’s to many more years!
