Laura Kephart has worked in the senior care industry since 1980, when she graduated as a nurse specializing in geriatric care. After relocating from New York to California in the mid 80’s, she worked in the hospitality industry, and then to skilled nursing where she trained staff and taught the certified nursing assistant program. Laura is a pioneer in Assisted Living, serving as an Assisted Living Director in one of the first licensed communities in Southern California. Since that time, Laura has overseen operations for corporations and privately owned communities, including San Clemente Villas, where she worked as our Executive Director from 2010-2012, and now serves as the Executive Director. Laura believes in the power of communication, caring, while empowering people through living their best life.

Born and raised in San Clemente, Esmeralda graduated from San Clemente High School, attended Cosmetology School and is also a Professional Makeup Artist. She started her work at San Clemente Villas in April 2009. Having been raised by her grandparents, “Esme” learned the skill of patience, because as they grew older, she became their care giver. She took them to every appointment they had and was with them at the end of their lives. “I love how we are all a family here at the Villas - both residents and employees. I especially like listening to the residents’ stories of their lives - it reminds me of my grandparents and how lucky I was to be raised by them.”

Rey began working at Sana Clemente Villas in 2003 as a caregiver. Rey is the San Clemente Villas by the Sea West Indies Memory Care Manager. In 2016, he became a Med Tech and in 2016, and after completing the RCFE (Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly) Administrator Certification Program in 2018 he was promoted to be manager of the memory care.

When San Clemente Villas first opened in 2002, Barbara began working as a musician for the twice weekly “Happy Hours” event. Her background includes courses in geriatric recreation, and Bachelors’ Degrees in science and behavioral sciences. She next completed a Certification as a Nutritionist and is also an AD-certified (Activities Director) and holds an RCFE Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly) license. She believes her life’s journey has given her the skills and understanding to make a difference working with seniors as Activities Director and in Administration.

Chef Salvador Caballero has been the Food Service Director at San Clemente Villas for 14 years. Balanced nutrition with outstanding quality food service, meal planning and unmatched preparation is always the top consideration of Chef Caballero. In 1991 he studied cooking in San Bernardino and has worked in the senior living industry since 1988.

Having been at San Clemente Villas for 16 years, Jing is currently the Wellness Director at San Clemente Villas. Graduating with a BS degree in Pharmacy in 1991, Jing passed the board requirements, and became a pharmacist in the Philippines. She then worked in a US pharmacy for two years and in a hospital for six years thereafter as a pharmacist. She received her RCFE (Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly) certificate in 2014. “This job is very nurturing to my soul, as helping others by making them smile, creates a difference in their daily life, which makes me feel contented.”

Cara was born in Memphis, Tennessee near Elvis Presley’s house. Her grandmother and mother were both nurses and her great-great Grandfather was a doctor in Silerton, Tennessee. At age 13, her dad was transferred to the El Toro Marine Corps base in Irvine. Given this dynamic, Cara grew up close to hospitals and nursing homes and by the age of 16 was already a Certified Nursing Assistant aiding her supervisor/mom.  As a high school senior, Cara worked as a surgical assistant, then after graduation from Nursing school in 1993, and for 17 years thereafter, served as an LVN and Director of Staff Development for Lake Forest Nursing Center. Most of her career has been managing in Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living communities where she discovered that nursing is the "Gentle Art of Caring". Her life’s passion is to "follow in my family’s footsteps and strive every day to enhance the lives of the residents in my care."

Kristin Rodriquez was born in Long Beach and is proud to be a Californian native. She graduated from Long Beach Poly and soon joined the Air Force where she became an MWR (Morale Welfare and Recreation Specialist). Her job included working in the fitness center and the mortuary. Leaving the service, her family expanded, and Kristin began raising three small children. In 2006 she attended nursing school on a part-time basis and upon graduation in 2019, she worked at Villa Valencia as a Med Tech and then became the Wellness Nurse there until taking a position at San Clemente Villas by the Sea, where her Dad worked in the Cardiac Cat Lab. After watching an open-heart surgery procedure, she knew becoming a nurse was her destiny instead. While finishing nursing school, Kristin worked in an Assisted Living tech where she cared for the elderly and found it extremely rewarding.  Kristin has set her sights on becoming an RN soon and says, "I love what I do each and every day."

Eleonora was born and raised in Bulgaria, Eastern Europe. She graduated from the university in her hometown, then moved to the US where she began working in Laguna Beach, California. Eleonora received her RCFE (Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly) certificate in 2019. For 12 years thereafter, she worked in the hospitality business and then was offered an amazing opportunity to work at San Clemente Villas by the Sea. “I began my job three years ago and am currently the Front Desk Supervisor at the Villas. I love working with seniors and enjoy providing excellent service for them by giving them all the care and attention they deserve.”

Amelia has worked at San Clemente Villas for 14 years and since 2008, has been the Care Coordinator. Amelia has more than 22 years of experience in caregiving and finds that helping the elderly is very rewarding. “At the end of the day, I feel I can make a difference in their lives, and thus, in my own life as well!

Dr. Michael HagaCMD, CWSP

Dr. Haga graduated from Loma Linda University in 2001. He is Board Certified in Family Practice and completed his residency program at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in 2004. He has been working in the ‘house call’ arena since graduating residency and enjoys his line of work and his patients immensely. Always the professional, as a board-Certified Hospice and Palliative Medicine practitioner, Dr. Haga is committed to providing competent and compassionate end-of-life care when needed. In addition, as a Certified Wound Specialist physician (CWSP) has extensive experience in diagnosing, treating, and healing wounds in elderly patients. A devoted husband and father of three, he resides in San Juan Capistrano. San Clemente Villas is very pleased to have Dr. Haga onboard as Medical Director.
